Played this stunningly beautiful small-town golf course on Wednesday 21 September 2022 along my route from Washington state to Ohio. Out of the now 210 courses I've played in a little over 3 years, this one was truly special because you won't find many men who are as dedicated to their course as 83 year-old PGA pro and owner Sam Carmichael. I had the pleasure of meeting this fine gentleman who kindly offered me a cart to recon the course the night before I played. His dedication and love for his course was evident as he was out first light in morning cutting the greens as I was golfing. What a hidden gem with such friendly, kind people - those who live in this area are so blessed to have this unique place, and to be able to play here regularly! 'll definitely return to play this one!
Played here for the first time over the weekend, course was in fantastic shape! Staff was very friendly and made the experience enjoyable. I enjoyed the old school feel of the track. Greens putted true and the maintenance was top notch!
I just love the setting. The land the course sits on is beautiful. I love the views it offers. Each hole has a unique quality to it. No place I'd rather play!

I have been playing at MGC for many years. It is one of my favorite courses. Always in the best shape! The greens the fairways even in the fall! There are hundreds of beautiful trees on this course and yet there are no leaves in the fairway or on the greens! The staff is so nice and Sam...He is one of a kind. I love it when he stops working and watches us play! Offering guidance if we need it or congratulations if we've done it correctly! There really is no place like MCG!
Martinsville is the best course on the south side of Indy not only for the beautiful layout and natural sloping terrain but also for the condition they maintain at the course. They are lovely people, and always accommodating.

Sam has been the owner/operator since 1969. You’ll find him on the course every day!

Julie is Sam and Susan’s oldest daughter, and the third Carmichael involved in the family business. Although she lives and works in Indianapolis, she works in the Pro Shop on weekends.

An avid golfer herself, Fran has worked in the Pro Shop at MGC for several years. She covers the shop a few mornings during the week…before she hits the links!

Bob Hoppel

THE MOLE MAN





Bob may be an unofficial member of the team, but he is invaluable. If you have spent much time at MGC, you’ve seen Bob on the course stalking moles. He’s disposed of almost 3,000 of the pesky creatures. Bob is also a mechanical whiz and helps keep our carts running.

Susan Carmichael

FOOD & BEVERAGE MANAGER





You will find Susan in the Pro Shop or Snack Bar most days. Married to Sam for 57 years, she’s also the mixologist responsible for MGC’s Famous Bloody Mary’s!

Brian Sears

PRO SHOP





Brian has been a fixture at MGC for over 10 years. You’ll find him in the shop several afternoons a week. He’s also our resident golf club expert. Questions about clubs, shafts, or golf equipment in general? Brian is your guy!
