American Lung Association in Indiana – Golf Courtney’s Way 2021
Sam Carmichael, Former Indiana University golf coach, will host the first-ever “Golf’s Courtney’s Way” fundraiser event at Martinsville Golf Club on Tuesday, September 14, from 10:30AM – 5PM. The outdoor event is open to all and provides an opportunity for engaging video, photos and interviews with participants who support life-saving lung cancer research.
Courtney Cox Cole, a local mother of two who made the most out of every day of her life, touched the lives of so many including her former golf coach at Indiana University. “Courtney was not only one of the best athletes I ever coached, but she was also one of the best human beings,” said Carmichael.
Courtney had epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR)-mutant lung cancer, which causes cancer cell to grow and divide. Almost all EGFR patients develop a resistance to treatment and their cancers progress.
All proceeds from the event will go to the Courtney Cox Cole Endowed Lung Cancer Research Fund. The research fund was created in memory of Courtney.
